Established in 1951, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) is the leading international organization in the ﬁeld of migration. IOM is committed to using the best modalities and mechanisms available to ensure eﬀective and digniﬁed assistance to people in need. As a signatory to the Grand Bargain commitments and recognizing the ﬂexibility, eﬃciency and effectiveness of using cash-based interventions, IOM commits to institutionalizing and increasing the use of Cash-Based Interventions (CBI) as a modality of assistance across its activities. IOM views CBI as a modality for project delivery where cash assistance (in one form or another) is provided to people in need of support (individuals, households or communities) to directly purchase and access goods or services. Depending on the context and the project requirement, CBI could have several forms. They can be conditional or unconditional; restricted or unrestricted and could be delivered through hard cash, electronic cash transfer or vouchers. IOM today has a varied CBI portfolio, reaching close to 1,9 million people in 119 countries and looking forward to continuously increase the use of CBI. A key step towards this goal is the reinforcement of IOM’s institutional and operational capacity both at headquarters and field levels including the expansion of the CBI Unit.
The successful candidate will work under the overall supervision of the Senior CBI Officer and the direct supervision of the IOM CBI Officer.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Support in the compilation and analysis of statistical data from IOM missions implementing CBI in different contexts.
- Support in compiling case studies, lessons learned and best practices from different IOM missions on CBI, and in producing harmonized pieces to be shared internally within IOM and/or externally.
- Collect, organize and store relevant practical tools and guidance developed by different IOM missions. Contribute to the creation of harmonized standard tools with templates to be used by all missions implementing CBI.
- Support in the content development and graphical production of reports, articles, technical guidance notes documents, presentations and brochures related to IOM CBI.
- Conduct evidence-based research and help exploring new and innovative technologies with potential to improve the delivery of CBI.
- Support in drafting and revising project proposals prior to endorsement when required.
- Support in the planning, coordinating and documenting events, such as meetings, webinars, workshops or group field visits, and keep track of related administrative and financial aspects.
- Attend meetings and other CBI-related forums; prepare talking points, briefings and meeting minutes when required.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the CBI Officer or Senior CBI Officer in the CBI Unit.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Advanced degree from an accredited academic institution in a ﬁeld of study related to social sciences (e.g. humanitarian aﬀairs, development studies, political science, international relations or a related ﬁeld), or another field of studies with the equivalent combination of humanitarian work experience.
- Strong and demonstrable interest in humanitarian work;
- Ability to timely understand the Organization’s structure and portfolios;
- Strong organizational skills;
- Computer literacy in standard Microsoft Office tools;
- Experience working with data analysis and reporting tools such as PowerBI and Microsoft Excel;
- Proven ability to produce quality work accurately and concisely according to set deadlines;
- Ability to work effectively and harmoniously in a team of colleagues of varied cultural and professional backgrounds;
- Working knowledge of graphic and web design software is an advantage; and
- Experience in research projects is an advantage.
Fluency in English is required. Working knowledge of French and/or Spanish is an advantage
