Job Title: Gender – Based Violence (GBV) Case Worker
Location: Pulka, Borno
Contract Duration: 4 months (with possibility of extension)
About The Job
- This position is for Increased support in Gender – Based Violence response for Adolescent girls in Pulka and increasing awareness on GBV prevention and SRH rights to Pulka community members.
- The GBV Caseworker will be based in Pulka and will be responsible to provide the day-to-day Management of adolescent girls GBV response cases including case management and running the adolescent girls program
The Caseworker will be responsible for the following, including those not listed but are extensions of those expressly stated:
- Ensuring that Survivor-Centred Approach Guiding principles are maintained and enforced while working with adolescent girls.
- Responsible for the overall management of the safe spaces, activities for adolescent for girls
- Facilitating the setting up of information desk at the women and girls centres where adolescent and women of reproductive age can access Sexual Reproductive Health information.
- Supporting at-risk individuals or survivors by referring (with their consent) to other service providers (Health, legal counselling, shelter, livelihoods, or mental health etc)
- Providing direct support, care, basic information, counselling, and case management for vulnerable girls (including survivors of gender-based violence) through assessment of survivor needs, developing an action plan, implementing the pan, follow up and case closure processes in line with the GBV case management standard operating procedure and IASC guidelines on case management (SOP).
- Ensuring that Do No Harm principles are implemented, observed, and upheld in all the engagements of the Case Worker.
- Responsible for the selection and supervision all community volunteers working in the women and girls’ centre
- Identifying resource need and facilitate the requests for supplies at centres.
- Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of artisans providing skills training adolescent girls.
- Liaising with the MEAL Officer and line manager to produce monthly data and regular narrative reports for different stakeholders as well as donor narrative report
- Supporting the implementation as well as ensuring the adherence to monitoring and evaluation plans.
- Providing weekly case update to supervisor (GBV Officer) including new cases identified, number of referrals, cases closed and follow ups.
- Providing weekly report on activities at the women and girls’ centre. This will include including key achievements, challenges, lessons learnt and follow up support needed from supervisor.
- Participating in case conference meetings and provide summary information on critical cases that required case conference.
- Maintaining positive coordination and relationship with other partners in the field to promote holistic approach to case management.
- Documenting and sharing relevant information that will inform the development of case studies and or success stories of the project Provide direct, one-on-one, and ongoing case management services, including safety planning
- Provide referrals for child survivors to other services including child protection and specialized mental health services, accompany of survivors where appropriate and conduct follow- up to ensure appropriate services have been provided to the survivor.
- Identify gaps in referral services and report these gaps to the GBV Manager for action.
- Liaise with community volunteers for purposes of survivor follow-up as part of case management to individual survivors.
- Complete and maintain case management records to maximize confidentiality and safety
- Participate in case review meetings and referral coordination meetings if needed
- Contribute to a positive team environment
- Practice self-care
- Any other duties that may be assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree In Psychology, Social Sciences, Public Health, Nursing required or any other related field from a certified tertiary institution
- At least 2 years humanitarian experience in Protection
- Teamwork: develops and promotes effective collaboration within and across units to achieve shared goals and optimize results.
- Delivering result: Willingness and ability to take initiative not only in identifying problems but also in suggesting and implementing solutions.
- Excellent communication skills and a willingness to be respectful, kind, sensitive and empathise with all beneficiaries and their carers Experience in GBVIMS and case management
- Flexible and willing to work and stay in community of implementation
- Good interpersonal skills to establish effective working relationships with all staff and key stakeholders.
- Willingness and ability to take initiative not only in identifying problems but also in suggesting and implementing solutions.
- Proven capacity for management and leadership
- Demonstrable ability at report writing
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Hausa
- Computer literacy
- Excellent presentation skills.
- A critical thinker with outstanding interpersonal skills.
