Organizational framework

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the Government of Guatemala signed the Country Programming Framework ( MPP ) 2022 – 2025, It defines the national priorities that FAO will address through actions at the country level within the scope of its strategic frameworks. These priorities aim to guarantee FAO’s comparative advantages to contribute to the achievement of the goals established in State policy instruments such as the K’atún National Development Plan Our Guatemala 2032 ( CONADUR-SEGEPLAN, 2014 ), the National Development Priorities ( SEGEPLAN, 2016 ), the General Government Policy 2020-2024, as well as the United Nations Framework for Cooperation on Sustainable Development in Guatemala ( MC ) and Agenda 2030,contributing directly to the three Sustainable Development Goals ( ODS ) highlighted in the new FAO Strategic Framework 2022-2031: SDG1 ( end of poverty ), ODS2 ( zero hunger ) and ODS10 ( reduction of inequalities ). This agreement establishes three priority government areas to be addressed by FAO, these are: 1 ) More productive, prosperous and inclusive territories for a better life, 2 ) Food security and better nutrition, and 3 ) Resilience and better environment. These are areas that are in line with the MC and with the new FAO Strategic Framework 2022-2031, which promotes accelerating progress towards the 2030 Agenda through four improvements: better production, better nutrition, better environment and a better life without leaving anyone behind. Hierarchical dependence

The driver will be under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator and the Assistant Representative ( Program ).

Field of specialization

As the driver of the FAO Representation in Guatemala, you will be in regular contact with officials of the Country Office, national and international visitors, high-ranking ( officers ) from government and other Agencies ( UN ), project managers, consultants and other internal and external officials. It will be the first point of contact for outsiders. Interact daily with local office officials and officials and with service providers.

Tasks and responsibilities

  •  Transfer officials from the Country Office and their visitors on official trips, and transfer the FAO Representative when required.
  •  Receive official officials and visitors at the airport, facilitate customs procedures, hotel registration and other local procedures;
  •  Carry an official travel control, daily mileage, fuel consumption, other transportation / vehicle expenses, reviews and repairs, etc.
  •  Transport field missions that are carried out on demand.
  •  Take care of the daily maintenance of the vehicle or vehicles under its responsibility; check the levels of oil, water, battery, air in the tires, etc.; carry out minor repairs and manage the pertinent repairs to guarantee compliance with the safety regulations and technical conditions of the vehicle; keep the vehicle clean.
  •  Carry out the corresponding local and institutional procedures in the event of an accident; if an accident occurs, ensure that all current institutional and national rules, regulations and procedures are complied with.
  •  Withdraw and deliver correspondence, documents, suitcases and other orders from and to the Country Office; withdraw and deliver these items at the courier office, airport, government entities, other agencies, UN institutions, projects, etc .; and keep a record of these efforts, as appropriate.
  •  Provide support to other officials in office work when necessary, reception care and phone calls, as well as taking photocopies, performing scans, keeping records, etc.
  •  Support in general service, event management and logistical support in the office and in the field when required.

THE CANDIDATES WILL BE EVALUED IN ARRANGE TO THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:

Minimum requirements

  •  Complete basic education level. Current vehicle driving license, type B.
  •  Four 4 years of experience driving four-wheel drive vehicles
  •  Practical knowledge of the Spanish language
  •  Guatemalan nationality

Selection criteria

  •  At least 3 years of experience in a similar position is required.
  •  Work experience with any of the agencies of the United Nations System or with organizations linked to International Cooperation.
  •  Travel work experience to various departments of the country
  •  Knowledge in keeping records and logs of vehicle use, fuel control and vehicle services.
  •  Availability to travel to any part of the country.
